In this case, the water is delivered directly to the base of the given plant, so there is no extra water loss and no unnecessary infiltration. This highly efficient method is a good solution in many ways, as it saves soils from salinization, protects water resources from the premature depletion, less evaporation loss and weed formation, and last but not least spares unnecessary expenses.
